An Analysis of Teachers Professional Competence in Teaching Listening at Madrasah Tsanawiyah in the 21ST Century
One of the challenges of education in the 21st century is the paradigm shift
in education. In the learning process, teacher is one of component that has a role
in determining students‟ success. Professional teachers should be able to master
four teachers‟ competencies; one of them is professional competence. The aim of
this research investigates teacher professional competence need and how to gain
professional competence on teaching listening of Madrasah Tsanawiyah in the 21st
century. This research will focus on professional teacher competence based on
21st century for teaching listening. In addition, the researcher conducts English
teachers who teach English at eighth grade in Madrasah Tsanawiyah Negeri 2
Rajagaluh.
The method of this research used a qualitative method through interview
and document analysis. The data of this research was analyzed and represented by
descriptive qualitatively. This qualitative research took three respondents. The
respondents ware English teacher of Madrasah Tsanawiyah Negeri 2 Rajagaluh.
Each respondent‟s answered 60 questions from researcher. The question was
represented the needs of teachers‟ professional competence and how to gain
professional competence.
The result of this research showed that teachers Madrasah Tsanawiyah
need to increase their knowledge about listening from any references. The
teachers also should follow technology development in teaching. It means that the
teacher should be inclusive of teaching in this 21st century
